Mobile Network Connectivity Probe for HP BAC and HP OVIS from ADVENAGE
Mobile Network Connectivity Probe (MNC Probe) has been designed to supply mobile network operators, service providers and MVNOs with a highly functional and reliable tool to monitor and analyze basic network quality and performance parameters from an end-users point-of-view.
It turned out to be our customers Swiss Army Knife for radio network parameter optimization, network service quality reporting, KPI reporting towards corporate customers, and competitor analysis. The unique probe architecture design ensures best-in-class reliability and performance.
Mobile Network Connectivity Probe (MNC Probe) extends HP Business Availability Center or HP OpenView Internet Services with testing and monitoring capabilities for basic mobile network parameters. MNC Probe simulates radio network attach, data service setup and IP target service testing from an end-users perspective and delivers detailed performance data to HP SiteScope or the OVIS server. MNC Probe integrates seamlessly with HP BAC / HP SiteScope, HP OVIS and other OpenView products.
As a probe plugin for HP BAC or HP OpenView Internet Services, MNC Probe enables mobile network operators, service providers and MVNOs to run basic radio network parameter monitoring using an industry standard performance management system. This avoids expenditures by running separate OSS systems or integrating non-standard systems into their performance management environments.
MNC Probe comes as a full service package including consulting, installation, support and software maintenance.
MNC Probe Features:
- Reports radio network attach times & radio network signal strength
- Documents cell-id and other environmental data
- GPRS, CSD and UMTS Bearer support
- Data service availability and setup times
- Support for IP application protocols ICMP-PING, UDP-PING, TCP-CONNECT, HTTP-GET, FTP-GET, WAP-GET
- Calculation of individual and average target response times
- Implementation of different reporting policies
- includes WSP and WBXML decoding for WAP
- supports WAP 1.x and WAP 2.x
Mobile Network Connectivity Probe gathers availability and performance data by periodically attaching to the radio network, setting up a data session/context and sending and receiving data using core TCP/IP protocols like ICMP ping, UDP ping and TCP connection setup. In addition it supports FTP file retrieval, HTTP get operations and WAP get operations.
Network attach time, IP context setup times, and (transaction-) round trip times are measured & logged to BAC or OVIS along with other data concerning time-stamps, transfer rate and availability status. For HTTP and WAP protocol based status codes are used to validate results. Supported bearer services include GSM/CSD, GSM/GPRS and UMTS.
